Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Gray Day, Venice by Maurice Brazil Prendergast. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 302,400.00 (€ 247,260.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stony Beach in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,526,000.00 (€ 4,170,313.42).
