Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Portrait Of A Lady, Circa 1655 by Matthew Snelling. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,478.48). Admittedly, works by Matthew Snelling have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A gentleman, in black habit slashed on front and sleeves to reveal white, white lawn collar with tassels, long brown curling hair; tan-coloured curtain and sky background, gold edge border in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 23,300.00 (€ 32,626.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Circa 1655 von Matthew Snelling zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.478,48) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Snelling auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A gentleman, in black habit slashed on front and sleeves to reveal white, white lawn collar with tassels, long brown curling hair; tan-coloured curtain and sky background, gold edge border im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.300,00 (€ 32.626,03).
