Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Microwave Oven Magic 03 by Matthew Brandt was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 191.25 (€ 192.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Matthew Brandt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Grays Lake Id 6 (From Lakes And Reservoirs) in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,042.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Microwave Oven Magic 03 von Matthew Brandt im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 191,25 (€ 192,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Matthew Brandt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Grays Lake Id 6 (From Lakes And Reservoirs) im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 23.042,39).
