Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Mathew Brady could be acquired at Christies in London in October 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th and 20th Century Photographs auction, the work Double-sided portrait of a gentleman, circa 1850s changed hands for GBP 176.25 (€ 301.26) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mathew Brady achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work John C. Calhoun in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 338,500.00 (€ 228,392.15).
