Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Red Face, 1980s by Mary Tillman Smith. The price achieved of USD 2,125.00 (€ 1,855.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mary Tillman Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Yellow Figure), which sold at auction in February last year for USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,568.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Face, 1980s von Mary Tillman Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.125,00 (€ 1.855,25) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Mary Tillman Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Yellow Figure) beobachtet, die im Februar letzten Jahres für USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.568,42) versteigert wurde.
