In January 2003 Christies in New York held the auction 20TH CENTURY SELF-TAUGHT AND OUTSIDER ART, which included this untitled work by Mary Tillman Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,824.00 (€ 3,560.85), 53% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mary Tillman Smith; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (Yellow Figure) sold at auction in February last year with the realized price of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,568.42).

Im Januar 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20TH CENTURY SELF-TAUGHT AND OUTSIDER ART durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mary Tillman Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.824,00 (€ 3.560,85) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Mary Tillman Smith; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled (Yellow Figure) im Februar letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.568,42).
