In February last year Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Three Figures, circa 1990 by Mary Tillman Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,232.00), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mary Tillman Smith; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (Yellow Figure) sold at auction in February last year with the realized price of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,568.42).

Im Februar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Figures, circa 1990 von Mary Tillman Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.232,00) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Mary Tillman Smith; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled (Yellow Figure) im Februar letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.568,42).
