Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Mary Newcomb achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in April last year. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work The Merry-go-round sold for GBP 17,850.00 (€ 21,285.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mary Newcomb - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Guinea Fowl on a Fence, which sold at auction in March 2000 for GBP 38,900.00 (€ 64,692.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mary Newcomb erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit The Merry-go-round für GBP 17.850,00 (€ 21.285,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Mary Newcomb mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Guinea Fowl on a Fence beobachtet, die im März 2000 für GBP 38.900,00 (€ 64.692,48) versteigert wurde.
