Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of James Stillingfleet (1673/4-1746), half-length, wearing a white shirt and brown jacket by Mary Beale was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,900.00 (€ 21,990.59) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mary Beale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of The Artist'S Son, Bartholomew Beale in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 93,750.00 (€ 102,931.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of James Stillingfleet (1673/4-1746), half-length, wearing a white shirt and brown jacket von Mary Beale kam im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.900,00 (€ 21.990,59) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mary Beale auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of The Artist'S Son, Bartholomew Beale im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 93.750,00 (€ 102.931,27).
