Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900, which included the work PEASANTS FEEDING SPANISH SOLDIERS DURING THE SIEGE OF ANTWERP by Marten van Cleve I. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 10,080.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marten van Cleve I achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Outdoor Wedding Dance in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,061,000.00 (€ 1,260,697.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900 durch, in der auch die Arbeit PEASANTS FEEDING SPANISH SOLDIERS DURING THE SIEGE OF ANTWERP von Marten van Cleve I zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 10.080,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marten van Cleve I erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Outdoor Wedding Dance im Juli 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.061.000,00 (€ 1.260.697,53).
