In January 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I, which included the work Children's Games by Marten van Cleve I. The »bidding war« ended at USD 625,000.00 (€ 515,039.14), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marten van Cleve I - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Outdoor Wedding Dance, which sold at auction in July 2016 for GBP 1,061,000.00 (€ 1,260,697.53).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit Children's Games von Marten van Cleve I zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 625.000,00 (€ 515.039,14) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Marten van Cleve I mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Outdoor Wedding Dance beobachtet, die im Juli 2016 für GBP 1.061.000,00 (€ 1.260.697,53) versteigert wurde.
