In November this year Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts held the auction Dance of Death, which included the work Old Fears Are Still Valid by Marlene Dumas. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,360.00 (€ 14,081.41), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marlene Dumas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Visitor in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 3,177,250.00 (€ 4,036,731.89).

Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts die Auktion Dance of Death durch, in der auch die Arbeit Old Fears Are Still Valid von Marlene Dumas zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.360,00 (€ 14.081,41) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marlene Dumas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Visitor im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.177.250,00 (€ 4.036.731,89).
