Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work To Be Titled (Gradient Painting #22) by Mark Hagen was auctioned at Sothebys in London in August 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,117.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Hagen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work To be titled (Additive Painting #98) in September 2014 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 34,645.23).
