Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Damrak Amsterdam: moored boats in winter by Marie Henri MacKenzie was sold in the Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 8,750.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marie Henri MacKenzie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An evening on the Leidseplein, Amsterdam, which sold at auction in June 2002 for EUR 26,290.00.
