Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Thunbergia (Black-Eyed Susan) by Margaret Preston was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. The price achieved of AUD 114,000.00 (€ 68,169.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 100,000.00 – 140,000.00. Admittedly, works by Margaret Preston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).
