Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Soldier'S Return by Marcus Stone was sold in the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction at Sothebys in London in July 2007. The price achieved of GBP 36,000.00 (€ 53,468.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marcus Stone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3., which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 116,650.00 (€ 170,305.32).
Für andere Arbeiten von Marcus Stone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 116.650,00 (€ 170.305,32) versteigert wurde.
