Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2008 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work Princess Elizabeth pursuaded to attend mass with her sister, Queen Mary by Marcus Stone. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,207.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcus Stone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 116,650.00 (€ 170,305.32).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 116.650,00 (€ 170.305,32).
