Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Letter by Marcus Stone was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,876.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcus Stone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 116,650.00 (€ 170,305.32).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit My Lady is a Widow and Childless 'Tis better to be lowly born, and range with humble livers in content, than to be perk'd up in a glistering grief, and wear a golden sorrow' William Shakespeare, The Life of King Henry VIII, act II, scene, 3. im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 116.650,00 (€ 170.305,32).
