Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Cardinals Relaxing In A Drawing Room by Marcel Brunery was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,041.83). Admittedly, works by Marcel Brunery have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French The Late Fiancé in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 66,000.00 (€ 48,316.25).
