This artwork by Mao Yan achieved an unexpectedly high price at POLY in Hong Kong in October 2015. In the Chinese and Asian Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work Sharp-born Black Rose sold for HKD 8,614,000.00 (€ 1,006,344.87) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 4,800,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mao Yan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Standing Youth sold at auction in April 2016 with the realized price of HKD 9,440,000.00 (€ 1,063,557.38).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Mao Yan erzielte im Oktober 2015 bei POLY in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Chinese and Asian Modern and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Sharp-born Black Rose für HKD 8.614.000,00 (€ 1.006.344,87) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 4.800.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Mao Yan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Standing Youth im April 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 9.440.000,00 (€ 1.063.557,38).
