Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Oil Painting Studio 2 by Mao Yan was auctioned at Sothebys in Beijing in December 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CNY 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CNY 2,832,000.00 (€ 402,671.33). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mao Yan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Standing Youth, which sold at auction in April 2016 for HKD 9,440,000.00 (€ 1,063,557.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Oil Painting Studio 2 von Mao Yan im Dezember 2015 bei Sothebys in Beijing versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CNY 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CNY 2.832.000,00 (€ 402.671,33) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Mao Yan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Standing Youth beobachtet, die im April 2016 für HKD 9.440.000,00 (€ 1.063.557,38) versteigert wurde.
