Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Piazzetta di San Marco e Riva degli Schiavoni, Venice; and Le Zattere, Venice by Manuel Muñoz y Otero was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in London in May 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,864.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Manuel Muñoz y Otero - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Storyteller, which sold at auction in June 2011 for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 30,423.64).
