Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (from the series Mangos azules) by Manuel Mendive was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 25,000.00 (€ 21,072.15). Admittedly, works by Manuel Mendive have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Energías para el amor y la bondad in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,249.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (from the series Mangos azules) von Manuel Mendive im Juli 2021 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 25.000,00 (€ 21.072,15) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Manuel Mendive auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Energías para el amor y la bondad im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 111.249,56).
