Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Hombre con pájaro by Manuel Mendive was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,741.23). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Manuel Mendive achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Energías para el amor y la bondad in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,249.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Hombre con pájaro von Manuel Mendive im Juli 2021 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.625,00 (€ 4.741,23) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Manuel Mendive erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Energías para el amor y la bondad im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 111.249,56).
