In April 2013 Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Arthur & Charlotte Vershbow, which included the work Bacchanal with Silenus (Bartsch 20; Martineau 75) by Andrea Mantegna. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,500.00 (€ 20,883.96), 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrea Mantegna achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Triumph Of Alexandria in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 11,654,000.00 (€ 10,505,724.33).
