Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September last year Christies in New York held the auction Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba, which included the work Untitled (Narasimha) by Manjit Bawa. The »bidding war« ended at USD 207,900.00 (€ 212,511.50), 16% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Manjit Bawa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Devi) in March last year with an auction result of USD 1,108,800.00 (€ 999,549.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Narasimha) von Manjit Bawa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 207.900,00 (€ 212.511,50) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Manjit Bawa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Devi) im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.108.800,00 (€ 999.549,27).
