This artwork by Manjit Bawa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September last year. In the Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba auction, the work Untitled (Krishna with Flute) sold for USD 315,000.00 (€ 321,987.12) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Manjit Bawa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Devi), which sold at auction in March last year for USD 1,108,800.00 (€ 999,549.27).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Manjit Bawa erzielte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Centering the Figure: South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art from the Collection of Romi Lamba wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Krishna with Flute) für USD 315.000,00 (€ 321.987,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 150.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Manjit Bawa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Devi) beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 1.108.800,00 (€ 999.549,27) versteigert wurde.
