In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work Views of Merrick’s Mills and Long Island on the Rideau River by Major Charles Frederick Gibson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,192.18), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Major Charles Frederick Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 13,125.00 (€ 15,345.25).

Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Topographical Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Views of Merrick’s Mills and Long Island on the Rideau River von Major Charles Frederick Gibson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.192,18) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Major Charles Frederick Gibson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.125,00 (€ 15.345,25).
