In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Topographical Pictures, which included the work Fort Henry, Kingston – four views of the Barracks by Major Charles Frederick Gibson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,691.62), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Major Charles Frederick Gibson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia sold at auction in December 2016 with the realized price of GBP 13,125.00 (€ 15,345.25).
