Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Three views of the Grand Kettle Falls, Bytown; ‘The Five Bridges at Bytown from my sitting room window’; and ‘Rideau Falls, Bytown’ Ontario by Major Charles Frederick Gibson was sold in the Topographical Pictures auction at Christies in London in December 2016. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,092.07), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Major Charles Frederick Gibson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 13,125.00 (€ 15,345.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Three views of the Grand Kettle Falls, Bytown; ‘The Five Bridges at Bytown from my sitting room window’; and ‘Rideau Falls, Bytown’ Ontario von Major Charles Frederick Gibson wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion Topographical Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.092,07) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Major Charles Frederick Gibson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 13.125,00 (€ 15.345,25) versteigert wurde.
