Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Nine views of Quebec and its environs, including a view of Quebec from Engineer Barrack, a view of Orleans and Levis from Quebec City, a view of Quebec from Woodfield, and Beauport by Major Charles Frederick Gibson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,799.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Major Charles Frederick Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 13,125.00 (€ 15,345.25).

Die Arbeit Nine views of Quebec and its environs, including a view of Quebec from Engineer Barrack, a view of Orleans and Levis from Quebec City, a view of Quebec from Woodfield, and Beauport von Major Charles Frederick Gibson kam im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.799,78) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
