Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A series of eight views of Quebec and its environs, including Point Levy from the citadel, the Falls of Montmorency and Lake Charles by Major Charles Frederick Gibson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,307.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Major Charles Frederick Gibson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 13,125.00 (€ 15,345.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A series of eight views of Quebec and its environs, including Point Levy from the citadel, the Falls of Montmorency and Lake Charles von Major Charles Frederick Gibson kam im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.307,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Major Charles Frederick Gibson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Seven views of Halifax, Nova Scotia beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 13.125,00 (€ 15.345,25) versteigert wurde.
