Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Courageous Spirits: Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Four Studies of Women by Madge Gill. The price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,316.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,500.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Madge Gill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled, 1951 in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,409.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Courageous Spirits: Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Four Studies of Women von Madge Gill zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.500,00 (€ 2.316,10) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.500,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Madge Gill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled, 1951 im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 21.409,90).
