In November 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision, which included the work El Recreo (Playtime) by Luis Jiménez Aranda. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,503.23), 56% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luis Jiménez Aranda - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Dancing Lesson, which sold at auction in October 2003 for USD 53,775.00 (€ 46,321.82).

Im November 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision durch, in der auch die Arbeit El Recreo (Playtime) von Luis Jiménez Aranda zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 17.503,23) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Luis Jiménez Aranda mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Dancing Lesson beobachtet, die im Oktober 2003 für USD 53.775,00 (€ 46.321,82) versteigert wurde.
