It achieved a price of USD 18,000.00 (€ 13,794.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Admittedly, works by Luigi Sabatelli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Armida and the sleeping Rinaldo on a chariot drawn by dragons and escorted by putti in July 2017 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 66,950.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Vidi, quod aperuisset agnus...: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Saint John the Evangelist seen beyond (Revelation 6: 1-8) von Luigi Sabatelli wurde im Januar 2005 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 18.000,00 (€ 13.794,16) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%.
