Auction result misses estimated price range
In March this year a collector was able to acquire the work (Untitled) Shooting Stars #2 by Lucien Smith for USD 762.00 (€ 700.88). This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art: Online Auction at Phillips and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucien Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hobbes, The Rain Man, and My Friend Barney / Under the Sycamore Tree in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 389,000.00 (€ 285,903.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit (Untitled) Shooting Stars #2 von Lucien Smith für USD 762,00 (€ 700,88) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art: Online Auction bei Phillips erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucien Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hobbes, The Rain Man, and My Friend Barney / Under the Sycamore Tree im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 389.000,00 (€ 285.903,28).
