This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art Evening Auction at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lucien Smith; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Hobbes, The Rain Man, and My Friend Barney / Under the Sycamore Tree sold at auction in November 2013 with the realized price of USD 389,000.00 (€ 285,903.28).
