Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Crucifixion With The Two Thieves, The Madonna, Saint John And Mary Magdalene, A Pelican Piercing Its Breast Above by Luca di Tommè was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in February 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 110,500.00 (€ 84,486.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luca di Tommè achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Bernardo Degli Uberti; Spandrels: The Prophets Hosea And Jeremiah in July 2009 with an auction result of GBP 937,250.00 (€ 1,063,497.81).
