In the Arts of India auction, the work Sacred tank and pagodas near Benares sold for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 1,444.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Ramus Forrest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Picturesque Tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna in India.
