This artwork by Charles Ramus Forrest achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2003. In the Arts of India auction, the work Sacred tank and pagodas near Benares sold for GBP 1,434.00 (€ 1,444.43) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Ramus Forrest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Picturesque Tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna in India.
