Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Study Of A Mother And Child by Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 352.50 (€ 499.27). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The young attendants; and The flower garland (both illustrated), which sold at auction in September 2005 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,937.20).
