Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Lady, Shoulder-Length, In Profile To The Left, In Lace Headdress; And Portrait Of A Lady, Bust-Length, In Profile To The Left, Her Hair Upswept by Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford for GBP 352.50 (€ 499.27). This price was achieved in the auction British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The young attendants; and The flower garland (both illustrated), which sold at auction in September 2005 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,937.20).
