In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction FootballThe Beautiful Game, which included the work We're thinking of dropping this and going in for limericks by Louis Wain. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,400.00 (€ 7,372.55), 28% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Louis Wain have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Come Birdie Come and Live with Me in November this year with an auction result of GBP 38,400.00 (€ 44,497.25).

Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion FootballThe Beautiful Game durch, in der auch die Arbeit We're thinking of dropping this and going in for limericks von Louis Wain zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.400,00 (€ 7.372,55) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis Wain auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Come Birdie Come and Live with Me im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 38.400,00 (€ 44.497,25).
