This artwork by Louis Marie Sicardi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2008. In the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work A young lady, in transparent white muslin dress with steel-blue silk border, ochre scarf, powdered curling hair; nocturnal landscape background sold for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 14,441.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Louis Marie Sicardi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A girl called Mademoiselle Victorine de Chastenay-Lanty, full face in white dress with laced green bodice and fichu, posy of forget-me-nots pinned at corsage, forget-me-nots, blue ribbon and large straw hat in her long powdered curled hair dressed à sold at auction in April 2002 with the realized price of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,714.5
