The »bidding war« ended at EUR 3,760.00 71% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis Schrikkel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Oversteek Brompton Road, which sold at auction in June 2000 for NLG 19,893.40 (€ 8,488.82).

Die Arbeit A townscape with figures, a horse and wagon by a canal von Louis Schrikkel wurde im Januar 2002 in der Auktion PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 3.760,00 und damit 71% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Louis Schrikkel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Oversteek Brompton Road beobachtet, die im Juni 2000 für NLG 19.893,40 (€ 8.488,82) versteigert wurde.
