Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Charles Grant, Vicomte De Vaux, In Uniform As A Lieutenant Colonel Of The Garde Du Roi, Attended By His Groom With Their Horses, A Fortress Beyond by Louis-Roland Trinquesse was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 209,000.00 (€ 297,689.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis-Roland Trinquesse - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An interior with two ladies and a gentleman, which sold at auction in October 2006 for USD 968,000.00 (€ 757,848.59).
