In October 2008 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Dutch A Coastal View At Dusk by Louis Meijer. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 9,375.00 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Louis Meijer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fisherfolk near beached pinken at dusk in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 176,250.00 (€ 80,895.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch A Coastal View At Dusk von Louis Meijer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 9.375,00 und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis Meijer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fisherfolk near beached pinken at dusk im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 176.250,00 (€ 80.895,45).
