Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Irish Art, which included the work St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh by Louis Grimshaw. The price achieved of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 28,579.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis Grimshaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Royal Mile, Edinburgh: the approach to Holyrood Palace, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 60,945.00 (€ 90,704.41).
