Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work U.S. sloop of war Vincennes and the frigate Brandywine arriving at Honolulu harbour, Hawaii, to protect the American whaling fleet, 1829 by Louis Dodd for GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,954.87). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Louis Dodd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Charleston built frigate John Adams with the American fleet on the Guadeloupe station under Commodore Truxtun at Basseterre, St. Christoper's and Nevis, Leeward Islands, West Indies in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 9,987.50 (€ 16,026.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2001 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit U.S. sloop of war Vincennes and the frigate Brandywine arriving at Honolulu harbour, Hawaii, to protect the American whaling fleet, 1829 von Louis Dodd für GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.954,87) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 4.000,00.
