The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 52,875.00 (€ 56,684.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Augustus closing the Temple of Janus is the most expensive artwork by Louis de Silvestre II that we have observed at auctions so far.
