Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Saint John The Evangelist by Lorenzo Lippi. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 37,250.00 (€ 42,749.95), 24% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lorenzo Lippi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Consul Gaius Popillius drawing a circle around King Antiochus IV, which sold at auction in July 2010 for GBP 121,250.00 (€ 145,789.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint John The Evangelist von Lorenzo Lippi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 37.250,00 (€ 42.749,95) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Lorenzo Lippi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Consul Gaius Popillius drawing a circle around King Antiochus IV beobachtet, die im Juli 2010 für GBP 121.250,00 (€ 145.789,46) versteigert wurde.
